More than 50 million Americans throughout the northeast are under flood watches on Monday, with a significant risk of sudden floods in some areas.

Sudden flood warnings for cities have been issued, including New York City, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Newark, New Jersey and Arlington, Virginia, including Reagan National Airport, until Monday night.

The potentially mortal floods were possible in Western Union County, New Jersey, warned the National Meteorological Service.

Bergen County in the Northeast of New Jersey and Westchester County in New York are also under a sudden flood warning.

The governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, declared an emergency state due to sudden floods and “high levels of rain in parts of the state.”

“Please stay inside and avoid unnecessary trips,” he said in X.

Slow movement storms are expected to fall a lot of rain quickly. Rain rates of up to 3 to 4 inches per hour are possible.

Up to 5 inches of rain have already fallen in parts of the north and center of Jersey.

Vady vehicles have been informed due to sudden floods in areas such as Union County, New Jersey and Westchester County.

Floods of generalized reproduction were also reported in Lancaster County in southern Pennsylvania after heavy rains moved through the area early.
