A man who escaped from a Puerto Rican prison almost 40 years ago was arrested in Florida, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s office.

Jorge Milla -valdes escaped from a Puerto Rican prison in 1987. The Department of Justice of Puerto Rico believed he lived under the name of Luis Aguirre.

His criminal history included theft and aggravated aggression with a mortal weapon in the County of Monroe de Florida, according to the Sheriff’s office.

The LCSO Fugitive Guarantees Unit searched Milla-Valdes and obtained the original digital footprints of 1986 of Puerto Rico, and a set of his criminal history in Monroe County.

The fugitive unit was informed of the party and Milla-Valtes was arrested two hours later in Ft. Myers Shores, according to the Sheriff’s office.
